KSD Security – Warranty, Installation & Call-Out Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy applies to bollards and associated products supplied by KSD Security. It explains our product warranty, installation requirements, maintenance responsibilities and circumstances where an engineer call-out may be chargeable.

This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not affect, any statutory rights you may have under applicable UK consumer law.

1. 12-Month Product Warranty

Unless otherwise stated on the individual product listing, KSD Security products are supplied with a 12-month warranty from the date of delivery or installation.

The warranty covers faults arising from genuine manufacturing defects or mechanical defects that occur during normal use.

Depending on the nature of the fault, KSD Security may:

  • Repair the affected product or component;

  • Provide replacement parts;

  • Replace the affected product; or

  • Offer another appropriate remedy.

We may request photographs, videos or other information to help diagnose the issue before arranging replacement parts or an engineer visit.

2. What the Warranty Covers

Examples of faults that may be covered include:

  • Manufacturing defects;

  • Failure of an internal mechanism during normal use;

  • Defective locks or locking components caused by a manufacturing fault;

  • Defective springs, latches or internal components;

  • Manufacturing-related weld failures;

  • Electrical, motor or control equipment faults on automatic bollards where the fault is confirmed to relate to the supplied equipment.

Each warranty claim will be assessed individually to establish the cause of the fault.

3. Installation Requirements

Correct installation is essential to the operation and lifespan of any bollard.

Where a bollard is installed by the customer or a third-party contractor, responsibility lies with the installer to ensure that the product is installed correctly.

Particular attention must be given to drainage when installing telescopic or underground bollards.

The underground casing must not be installed in a way that allows it to act as a container or sump in which significant amounts of water can remain.

Adequate drainage must be provided beneath and around the underground section to allow rainwater and surface water to disperse.

Ground conditions, including clay soil, a high water table or areas subject to heavy surface-water collection, may require additional drainage measures.

Where necessary, customers should seek advice from a competent installer before installation.

4. Standing Water, Flooding & Drainage

Bollards are designed for outdoor use; however, they must still be installed with suitable drainage.

The warranty does not cover damage or operational problems caused by:

  • Inadequate drainage;

  • Incorrect installation;

  • The underground casing being left sitting in substantial or prolonged standing water;

  • Flooding;

  • A high water table that has not been appropriately accounted for during installation;

  • Surface water being directed towards the bollard;

  • Concrete, soil, debris or other materials obstructing the drainage system.

Water found around a bollard does not automatically invalidate the warranty. We will assess the installation and the cause of the fault before making a decision.

The exclusion applies where the fault or damage is reasonably determined to have been caused by inadequate drainage, prolonged standing water or incorrect installation, rather than a manufacturing defect in the product.

5. Engineer Call-Outs

Where appropriate, KSD Security may arrange for an engineer to attend the installation address to inspect or repair a bollard.

Where the engineer determines that the problem is the result of a genuine warranty-covered product fault, the matter will be dealt with in accordance with this warranty and applicable consumer law.

However, a call-out and/or labour charge may apply if the engineer determines that the problem has been caused by circumstances outside of the product warranty, including:

  • Incorrect installation;

  • Inadequate drainage;

  • The bollard sitting in excessive or prolonged standing water;

  • Flooding;

  • Damage caused by vehicles or other impact;

  • Misuse;

  • Lack of reasonable maintenance;

  • Debris, concrete or foreign objects entering the mechanism;

  • Unauthorised modification or repair;

  • Damage caused by a third-party installer.

Where possible, customers will be informed of the potential for a charge before an engineer attends.

If KSD Security agrees to provide replacement parts free of charge as a gesture of goodwill, this does not automatically mean that an engineer call-out or labour will also be provided free of charge where the underlying issue is not covered by the warranty.

Where KSD Security originally carried out the installation, we will also consider whether the issue relates to the installation work carried out by us.

6. Maintenance

Bollards are mechanical products and require reasonable routine maintenance.

We recommend that customers:

  • Keep the area around the bollard clean and free from stones, dirt and debris;

  • Periodically inspect the bollard for obstruction or damage;

  • Keep locks and moving components operating freely;

  • Apply a suitable multipurpose grease to appropriate moving components approximately every six months, or more frequently in demanding environments;

  • Check that surrounding drainage remains clear and operational.

Failure to carry out reasonable maintenance may affect warranty coverage where the lack of maintenance is directly responsible for the fault.

7. Surface Oxidation & Cosmetic Changes

Stainless steel, galvanised steel and powder-coated products are designed for outdoor use, but environmental exposure can still cause cosmetic changes over time.

Minor surface oxidation, staining, discolouration, marks or cosmetic deterioration caused by weather, road salts, chemicals, contamination or environmental conditions will not normally be regarded as a manufacturing defect.

Where corrosion appears excessive or appears to have resulted from a manufacturing defect, please contact us so that we can investigate.

8. Accidental Damage & Misuse

The warranty does not cover faults or damage resulting from:

  • Vehicle impact;

  • Accidental damage;

  • Deliberate damage or vandalism;

  • Excessive force;

  • Using the bollard in a manner for which it was not designed;

  • Modifications made without KSD Security's approval;

  • Repairs undertaken by an unauthorised third party where those repairs have caused or contributed to the fault.

9. Third-Party Installation

Customers are free to arrange their own installer.

However, where installation has not been carried out by KSD Security, we cannot accept responsibility for faults caused by the installation itself.

A product warranty remains in place for manufacturing defects, but installation-related faults are the responsibility of the customer and/or installer.

We strongly recommend that these installation requirements are provided to the installer before work begins.

10. Making a Warranty Claim

To allow us to investigate a claim as quickly as possible, we may ask for:

  • Your name and order number;

  • Proof of purchase;

  • Photographs of the bollard;

  • A photograph showing the full installation and surrounding ground;

  • Photographs of the underground section where reasonably accessible;

  • A short video showing the fault;

  • Details of when the problem first occurred;

  • Information about drainage and installation;

  • Details of any maintenance or repairs previously carried out.

We may initially provide troubleshooting instructions or send replacement components where this is likely to resolve the problem without the need for an engineer visit.

Please do not carry out substantial modifications or repairs while a warranty claim is being investigated unless agreed with KSD Security.

11. Replacement Parts

Where a component is confirmed as defective under warranty, KSD Security may supply a replacement component rather than replacing the complete product where this provides an appropriate remedy.

Replacement components supplied under warranty do not restart the original 12-month warranty period unless we expressly confirm otherwise in writing.

Providing a part or other assistance as a gesture of goodwill does not constitute an admission that the original product was defective.

12. Statutory Rights

This warranty is an additional commercial warranty provided by KSD Security.

Nothing within this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or reduce any rights or remedies that a customer may have under applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

Where there is any conflict between this policy and a customer's mandatory statutory rights, those statutory rights will apply.
